How Liquid I.V. uses Cellular Transport Technology to Hydrate More Efficiently

April 14, 2018
00:0000:00

BrandinCohen_April18.jpg

Brandin Cohen, Founder of Liquid I.V., the Non-GMO electrolyte drink mix that is based on Oral Rehydration Therapy joins eHealth Radio and the Health News Channel.

Listen to interview with host Eric Michaels & guest Brandin Cohen discuss the following:

  1. How does it work?
  2. Explain the technology behind it.
  3. How do I know if I'm dehydrated?
  4. Does drinking liquid IV help anything else in my body besides dehydration?
  5. What does Liquid IV do better for the body rather than drinking water?

Brandin Cohen is the CEO and Co-founder of Liquid I.V. Brandin Cohen grew up in Manhattan Beach, California, where he aspired to become a professional golf player, eventually playing the sport on scholarship at Loyola Marymount University. When Brandin hurt his shoulder in college, he had no idea the injury would close one door and open another: a career as an innovative entrepreneur with a philanthropic mission.

After graduating Loyola Marymount University as Entrepreneur of the Year for a project he did in Haiti, Brandin accepted a sales & marketing position with the Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball. He quickly noticed the players were opting for ineffective sports drinks to fight dehydration. As a former athlete himself, Brandin knew just how full of artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners, and preservatives these drinks contain. He set out to find a cleaner, more efficient alternative along with his friend and Liquid I.V. co-founder, Hayden Fulstone.

In 2012, the duo came across an untapped hydration science, Oral Rehydration Therapy, developed in the 1970’s by the World Health Organization and deemed to be one of the best medical advancements of the 20th century. This hydration breakthrough was created to aid children in developing countries suffering from extreme dehydration caused by deadly diseases such as cholera. Brandin searched for any beverage utilizing this technology and but were left empty handed. They decided to bring this untapped science to market and create Liquid I.V. The company officially launched in December 2012.

Aside from creating a great hydration product, Brandin also has a passion for giving back. In 2015, Liquid I.V. began sending hydration aid to some of the poorest regions of Haiti. The brand has since joined forces with multiple nonprofit organizations to fight dehydration together in other undeveloped nations like Uganda and South Sudan. Since the company’s inception, they have donated 34% of all manufactured Liquid I.V. product to fight dehydration both in developing countries and here in the United States.

Brandin was recently nominated as a finalist for Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Social Entrepreneur List. He currently resides in Playa Vista, California, and when he is not on the road meeting with retailers, he loves to travel the world and meet new people of varying cultures on his mission to eradicate global dehydration.

Dr. David Samadi was born in Iran in 1964. He was forced to leave the Jewish community he was raised in because the country became embroiled in the Iranian Revolution in 1979. At the age of 15, Dr. Samadi made his way to Belgium and then London with his younger brother. When he was able to finally make it to the United States, he entered high school in Roslyn, New York.

After he graduated from high school, Dr. Samadi attended Stony Brook University where he studied for a degree in biochemistry on a full scholarship. He attended Stony Brook School of Medicine and received his M.D. degree in 1994. While he was at Montefiore Medical Center, Dr. Samadi received training in urology. He obtained his training in proctology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center.

Dr. Samadi invented his own robotic technique for performing prostatic surgery, and he called it “Samadi Modified Advanced Robotic Treatment” or SMART. Race to Erase MS, their medical breakthroughs, the upcoming 25th anniversary, and founder Nancy Davis

April 4, 2018
00:0000:00

NancyDavis.jpg

Nancy Davis, Founder of Race To Erase MS an organization whose primary focus is to raise funds for the most cutting-edge, aggressive and promising research in an effort to find a cure for MS (Multiple Sclerosis) joins eHealth Radio and the Health News Channel.

Listen to interview with host Eric Michaels & guest Nancy Davis discuss the following:

  1. Why did you originally create the organization?
  2. Tell us about Race To Erase MS. What is it exactly and what is the goal of the organization?
  3. Tell us about the Center without Walls. Why is it such an instrumental part of what Race has been able to accomplish?
  4. Tell us about the new drug Ocrevus  that has come on the market and been FDA approved, that has changed the way many people now are diagnosed as a result.
  5. Is it true that MS mainly affects women over men?
  6. Tell us about the upcoming 25th anniversary, and the annual gala in Los Angeles.
  7. How can people get involved in the foundation, the gala, and support the cause?

Nancy Davis, one of five children, was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. In 1987 she moved to California and now resides in Los Angeles with her husband and five children. Nancy is an active individual with an incredible zest for life. She skis, plays tennis, has a black belt in karate, exercises, and travels – living her life to the fullest. She is an extremely dedicated philanthropist, jewelry and now clothing designer and author. Most importantly, she is a full-time mother who is devoted to her five children. Nancy was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at the age of 33 in 1991. After being told by her doctors that she would be “lucky” to operate a remote control on her TV, she realized she was too young and too busy to let the disease stop her life in its tracks. She was determined to devote her time, relationships and resources to finding a cure. Nancy’s hope, courage and strength continue to inspire her to maintain a vibrant quality of life despite this chronic disease, but most of all, she remains positive, continues to live her life to the fullest, and is tireless in her efforts to finding the cure for MS.

In 1993 she founded Race to Erase MS – an organization whose primary focus is to raise funds for the most cutting-edge, aggressive and promising research in an effort to find a cure for MS.

Overview of the gala:

Our legendary Race to Erase MS event is a spectacular evening filled with a fabulous cocktail reception, our renowned live and silent auction and an electrifying star-studded concert.  With your generosity and support, our Live and Silent Auction has raised an average of $800,000 dollars each year which funds vital MS research.

All proceeds go directly to our Center Without Walls program, a unique collaboration of the world’s leading MS research scientists representing Cedars-Sinai, UCSF, Harvard, Yale, Oregon Health Science University, Johns Hopkins and USC. The combined efforts and collaboration of these doctors have fostered cutting edge research discoveries, bringing renewed hope and inspiration to all those afflicted with this debilitating disease.
