At an early age, Steve Zieminski was introduced to running by his father which included innumerable 5k road races and weekends spent at the track. After high school, he attended the University of Florida where he ran cross country and track, and was a two-time All American for the Gators.
Following school he moved to New York City with the goal of eventually working on Wall Street. After making it to a large bank in Manhattan, Albert Matheny moved up to New York and the two began working on ideas for a nutrition company. It is from this friendship that Naked Nutrition was born.
While Steve doesn’t run as much as he used to, he replaces time spent out on the road with weight lifting, tennis, mountain biking, and surfing.

Safe Catch where their tuna is traceable from catch to can
Thursday Nov 02, 2017
Thursday Nov 02, 2017
Bryan Boches, the Co-Founder of Safe Catch where their tuna is traceable from catch to can and we only buy from captains whose fish come from managed and sustainable tuna stocks joins eHealth Radio and the Health News and Supplement Channels.
Listen to interview with host Eric Michaels & guest Bryan Boches discuss the following:
How did you come up with the idea of Safe Catch? Tell us a little more about it?
Is it true Safe Catch - Elite Wild Tuna has the lowest Mercury of any tuna brand? Please explain.
Is Safe Catch ok to eat several times a week unlike traditional tuna?
Is it safe for pregnant women as well?
Tell us about the additional products in the Safe Catch line?
About Safe Catch: Our tuna is traceable from catch to can and we only buy from captains whose fish come from managed and sustainable tuna stocks. Read more about our sustainability policy. Then, we test each tuna.Using our proprietary technology, we are able to test every single fish for its mercury content. If it doesn’t meet our purity standards we don’t buy it. It still may be a good tuna, but it’s not a Safe Catch tuna.
Our limit for Safe Catch Elite Wild Tuna is ten times (10x) stricter than the FDA mercury action limit.
Our limit for Safe Catch Wild Albacore Tuna is three times (3x) stricter than the FDA mercury action limit.
About the Co-Founders Bryan Wittenberg & Bryan Boches: As childhood friends growing up next door to each other, we never thought we would be working together and fighting for purity in our seafood and oceans. It all began when Sean’s mom read an article about mercury variance in tuna and said, “Moms shouldn’t have to worry about giving tuna sandwiches to their kids. Sean, why don’t you solve this?”After some research, we learned that two identical tuna, same species, size and school could vary in mercury levels by over 10 times. The only way to know the mercury level was to test every fish.Existing technology cost $100 per mercury test which would make a can of tuna cost about 50 bucks. So, we formed a team of talented software and hardware engineers and invented a new technology to rapidly test every fish for purity. We went to major seafood brands and offered to test for them but they all declined. One executive told us that consumers wouldn’t understand or care about better purity. So, we did what any entrepreneur with zero experience in food would do. We started a new brand of tuna and named it Safe Catch. We knew how to identify amazing tuna but we didn’t how to make amazing tuna. We were surprised to learn that conventional tuna is precooked, rehydrated with fillers, machined processed and recooked and as result of so much processing it loses many vital Omega 3 oils, flavor and texture. So, we searched for a better way to make and cook tuna. We found and adapted an old artisan method. At Safe Catch, we hand cut and hand pack each wild tuna steak into a BPA free lined can with no additives or fillers. Then, we slow cook it just once. It took us 75 different variations to get our formula perfect. We’re so happy with the purity, quality, and taste. All of the vital Omega 3 oils and flavor are retained in Safe Catch tuna and there is no draining after opening. Open the can into a bowl, chop up the steak with a fork and let it reabsorb its natural oils. It’s moist and delicious pure wild tuna as nature intended. We hope you love it!– Sean & BryanSafe Catch Founders

Are you getting enough omega-3s?
Thursday Jun 01, 2017
Thursday Jun 01, 2017
Dr. Bill Harris, an internationally recognized omega-3 expert and Professor of Medicine at Sanford School of Medicine, University of South Dakota & the President and CEO of OmegaQuant joins eHealth Radio and the Health News, Nutrition & Supplement Channels.
Listen to interview with host Eric Michaels & guest Dr. Bill Harris discuss the following:
What are omega-3s and where can you get them?
Why are omega-3s important for our health?
How do we know if we are getting enough omega-3s and what is an optimal level?
Why do you consider the omega-3 index test the ‘new cholesterol’ test?
Where can our listeners get more information?
SUMMARY: Low omega-3 levels are one of the most common and most easily corrected nutritional deficiencies in the world. Increasing the intake of oily fish and/or using omega-3 supplements will quickly and safely increase the Omega-3 Index into healthier zones. I think that the Omega-3 Index test will play a critical role in helping consumers take control of their own health and wellness. This simple at-home test requires only 1 drop of blood and enables people to identify a low omega-3 level. Armed with that information, they will be able to easily correct and then maintain healthy levels of omega-3s throughout their life.
Dr. Bill Harris is an internationally recognized expert on omega-3 fatty acids and how they can benefit patients with heart disease. He obtained his PhD in Human Nutrition from the University of Minnesota, and did post-doctoral fellowships in Clinical Nutrition and Lipid Metabolism with Dr. Bill Connor at the Oregon Health Sciences University. His interest in omega-3 fatty acids began with his postdoctoral work when he published his first study on the effects of salmon oil on serum lipids in humans (1980). Since that time he has been the recipient of five NIH grants for studies on the effects of omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) on human health. He has over 190 publications relating to omega-3 fatty acids in medical literature and was an author on two American Heart Association scientific statements on fatty acids: “Fish Consumption, Fish Oil, Omega-3 Fatty Acids and Cardiovascular Disease” (2002), and “Omega-6 Fatty Acids and Risk for Cardiovascular Disease” (2009) both published in the journal Circulation. Dr. Harris is a Professor in the Department of Medicine in the Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota, and the President and CEO of OmegaQuant.

Robert Tauler, managing partner at Tauler Smith, a Los Angeles attorney who protects the nutritional supplement market from people who openly sell illegal steroids and amphetamines as sports supplements joins eHealth Radio and the Health News, Legal & Supplement Channels.
Listen to interview with host Eric Michaels & guest Robert Tauler discuss the following:
Tell us a bit about problem of illegal steroids being sold right out in the open online and in sports nutrition stores. How big is the problem and what’s at stake?
How do these companies work and why can they operate so openly? Where’s the FDA in policing this problem?
What are the most common kinds of illegal supplements being sold right now, how do they work, and what are the risks and known side-effects? Do you know of any cases of someone suffering serious physical injury from illegal supplements that you can share with us?
How do you use the law to go after these bad actors? How effective have you been in getting the courts to force these people to take these poisons off the market?
Who is the market these people sell to? Can you tell us something about the buyers and the sellers? Who makes these supplements? Do the makers of these supplements have any medical backgrounds or qualifications that lets them experiment on customers with unapproved pharmaceutical research drugs?
How can unsuspecting people protect themselves from these substances? What should they know? How should they read a supplement’s label?
Los Angeles trial attorney Robert Tauler devotes the majority of his practice to nutritional supplement litigation, specifically eliminating steroid and amphetamine analogs from over-the-counter sports supplements. These drugs are sold openly in stores and online under all sorts of names with no warnings about side effects, whether the chemicals have been banned for human consumption, or whether they are outright illegal — as all steroids are without a doctor’s prescription. In 2016, he was awarded "Attorney of the Year" by the Los Angeles Westside Bar Association. In 2015 he obtained a $10 million jury verdict against a supplement manufacturer, which was among the top 25 highest verdicts in California that year.Tauler, a native Californian, is a 2005 graduate from Harvard Law School. He was honored as an NCAA Big West Scholar-Athlete while an undergraduate at the University of California, Irvine, where he majored in political science and played on the Anteater’s nationally-ranked men’s volleyball team.
