What is LifeQ’s mission, and what does it do that is currently not being done?

Laurie Olivier is the Chief Executive Officer of LifeQ, the leading independent provider of biometrics and health information derived from wearable devices used in world leading health management solutions. Mr. Olivier leads the firm’s growth and overall vision, including investment, strategy and partnerships with global leaders in wearables, silicon manufacturers, digital platforms, and insurance companies — leading the movement toward improving health and wellness around the world.
Mr. Olivier brings over three decades of global technology and business leadership, thirty years of venture capital and private equity experience, and has served on the boards of more than 50 startup, private and public companies around the world, including the largest industrial conglomerate in South Africa. As the Atlanta-based partner of 4Di Capital, the South African based early-stage venture capital management firm, and the US-based partner of Veritas Venture Partners, a pioneering seed stage Israeli VC firm, Mr. Olivier is passionate about developing new technologies into startups that positively impact people and society.
Founded in 2014, LifeQ has two key value propositions: enable wearable devices to provide business and near clinical-grade health information streams; and generate health and wellness solutions for consumer, business and clinical applications.
Mr. Olivier earned his Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering from the University of Pretoria; a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and Strategic Marketing; and a Diploma in Datametrics and Operational Research from the University of South Africa. Mr. Olivier’s work has been recognized by Dow Jones Venture Reporter, the Atlanta Journal Constitution, and the American Israel Chamber of Commerce. A native of Groot Marico, South Africa, Mr. Olivier lives in Atlanta with his wife.

What is your background?

Alisha Moopen is the Deputy Managing Director of Aster DM Healthcare. Having joined the company as a Director in 2013, she is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and development of the company, and notably spearheading the expansion of the group into new markets.
Alisha was recently elected by World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader to join the class of 2018. Recognizing her past work in healthcare, she has been inducted into a 5-year program with like-minded people who are committed and passionate to tackle the main challenges of the world today, with healthcare being one of them. She was also recognized as one of the Top 100 World’s Greatest Leaders in Asia and GCC in 2018. Forbes Middle East magazine has selected Alisha as one of the Top Next Generation Indian Leaders in 2018. She also won Khaleej Times’ Emerging Leaders Award 2018 for Healthcare. She is a Chartered Accountant from the ICAS (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland) and worked earlier with Ernst & Young.
She graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor with distinction in Finance & Accounting.
Alisha’s philosophy in life is ‘Healthiness is Happiness’. She wants to enable quality healthcare across the globe through treating people with compassion, precision and excellence. She is dedicated to the cause of women empowerment and mental health. Dr. Ben Kornitzer, M.D., is the Chief Medical and Quality Officer for agilon health. He has clinical and operational experience leading a diverse range of medical enterprises, including community-based practices, ACOs, IPAs, and integrated ambulatory networks. He served as Chief Medical Officer of the Mount Sinai Health Network for six years, where he oversaw one of the premier academic delivery networks in the country as the system developed robust population health tools, quality programs, care coordination resources, and invested in practice transformation.
In addition to his clinical and operational roles, Dr. Kornitzer previously served as a strategic consultant with McKinsey & Company, where he worked with U.S and foreign governments, hospital systems, and pharmaceutical companies. He earned his medical degree with AOA honors from Mount Sinai School of Medicine and completed his residency at Harvard Medical School/ Massachusetts General Hospital.

As a serial entrepreneur, Dor Skuler has co-founded five ventures, the most recent being Intuition Robotics, following his passion to develop artificial intelligence-driven robotics that address major social issues of the 21st century.
Having trained in Israel’s elite military intelligence unit 8200, Dor made a mark on interactive broadcast technology with Zing Interactive Media (acquired by Invesco, NASDAQ: IVZ) and security software through Safend (acquired by Wave Systems Corp, NASDAQ: WAVX). Dor then joined Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE:ALU) to create and lead innovative ventures, most notably as Founder and GM of Cloudband, the world’s first platform for Network Functions Virtualization (NFV), cited by Nokia as a major motive to purchasing the French-American telecoms giant. As Senior Vice President at Alcatel-Lucent, Dor was a regular speaker on the telecoms circuit, frequently cited in the media and made the Global Telecom Business ’40 under 40’ list in 2009, 2011 and 2013. Dor also served as Vice President of Strategy and Global Head of Corporate Development for Alcatel-Lucent in its corporate headquarters in Paris.
Dor holds an MBA and Master’s of Science in Marketing from Temple University, has co-authored ‘Cloud Computing: Business Trends and Technologies’ published by Wiley in 2016 and holds board level advisory and director roles for several telecoms, cyber security and tech-led social impact ventures.

Shawn Amer joined Central Ohio Primary Care as Clinical Program Director in 2019. A graduate of Ohio State University, Shawn has held various directorial and management positions at healthcare organizations throughout the Midwest. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Shawn was a driving force in the creation of COPC’s vaccine “delivery service,” a new program that has been successful in vaccinating Columbus’ most vulnerable population: home-bound seniors.

Throughout the vaccine rollout, primary care physicians have been working hard to increase vaccine confidence, especially among people of color. Can you tell us about some of the concerns surrounding the COVID-19 vaccines that you have heard from patients?
I know that you and other Black physicians at PriMED did a lot of outreach work to increase vaccine confidence, specifically within the Black community in Dayton. What were some of the ways that you and your colleagues engaged with the community?
Of all of the phone calls and conversations you have had with patients, is there any one that sticks out the most?
What trends have you been seeing most recently with vaccine hesitancy?
President Joe Biden recently announced his plan to get 70% of Americans at least partially vaccinated by July 4. Do you feel positive about us reaching that goal?
Linda Odenigbo, MD, is a Pediatrician at PriMED Physicians in Dayton, Ohio. A graduate of University of Ilorin Medical School, Dr. Odenigbo trained and practiced internal medicine in Nigeria until 1991. She completed her Pediatric residency at Harlem Hospital New York and later worked at CHIC clinic, a federally funded health care center in Decatur, Illinois, before finally joining PriMED pediatrics in 2000. Dr. Odenigbo’s special interests include childhood allergic conditions, as well as female adolescent health issues.

Richard Berger, M.D., is a world-renowned orthopedic surgeon at Midwest Orthopedics at Rush and assistant professor at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago. He pioneered a minimally invasive hip and knee replacement that allows for a quicker and less painful recovery than traditional joint replacement. He also was the first in the world to perform outpatient hip and knee replacement surgery and has done over 12,000 surgeries -- more than any other surgeon. Patients come from all the world to have surgery from Dr. Berger, and they include elite athletes, politicians and celebrities.
