Listen to interview with host Eric Michaels & guest Dr. Heather Clark discuss the following:

  • What are the symptoms of burnout?
  • What is the biggest problem that people who suffer from burnout face?
  • How does one get rid of burnout?
  • How long does it take to get rid of burnout?

Duration: 5:54

Had Dr. Heather Clark been asked to participate in this interview a few short years ago, she would not have been able to do so.

Her inability to function wasn't due to a lack of desire or inadequate drive; it was because she was sick, and the traditional doctors she visited didn't believe her. Their tests insisted that she was "fine."

She knew she wasn't.

In her own journey from sickness to health, she discovered the keys to overcoming exhaustion, despair and general dis-ease, and created Vibrant to share her practical and technical expertise with those who need it most. She translates medical terminology to realistic solutions, and works with clients who wish to simply be themselves again. A pioneer in the field of functional medicine, Dr. Clark practices a 'one and done' program. Because she understands that lives are busy and demands are great, her program calibrates and realigns, and returns clients to the lives that they've been missing.

Dr. Clark is a Clinical Pharmacist licensed in both Kansas and Missouri. A certified Functional Medicine Specialist, she is an adrenal fatigue expert with more than 15 years of clinical experience and CEO and Founder of Vibrant. She treats individuals, creates innovative group programs and educates not only about the causes and treatment of adrenal fatigue and damaged stress response systems, but the very real cost to businesses and individuals when those issues remain untreated. Her teaching credits include appointments as an Adjunct Professor at University of Missouri-Kansas City College of Pharmacy.

Dr. Clark holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa, speaks frequently to groups large and small and is a published author. She shares tips and findings through her newsletter and her website,, and is available for workshops, seminars, keynote presentations and both personal and group treatment programs.

Their ground-breaking new book TRUST YOUR GUT: Get Lasting Healing from IBS and Other Chronic Digestive Problems Without Drugs (Conari Press, May 2013/ $18.95) offers a comprehensive yet accessible CORE program designed to empower readers to take back their health by listening to the messages that their chronic gut distress is trying to tell them.

“We don’t want you to fight your gut we want you to trust it. Your symptoms are messages from the body to rely on rather than to ignore or self-medicate,” says Dr. Plotnikoff and Dr. Weisberg. According to the authors, the gut (stomach and intestinal region) is much more than just a digestive tract, it is actually an intestinal brain that responds to changes in the environment and regulates your internal organs, just like our main brain.  “When the main brain and the intestinal brain get their wiring crossed it can produce chronic intestinal problems.”

In TRUST YOUR GUT, Dr. Plotnikoff and Dr. Weisberg, empower readers to utilize a new mind-body approach to rewire the brain-gut neural connection. They teach audiences how to track down their hidden internal and external drivers of gut distress. Their practical and revolutionary CORE (Center, Observe, Restore, Ensure) self-help program provides readers with a set of tools beyond the pharmacy shelves, so anyone with chronic gut distress can break the vicious cycle of symptoms, fear, and pain to reclaim their lives—naturally.
