Listen to host Eric Michaels & guest Karina Godwin discuss the following:
I understand you’ve had quite a journey with a serious cancer diagnosis yourself. Tell us what happened.
What made you write such a personal and private account of your journey? What is is your Why?
You say in the book that the choices you made contributed to the cancer’s ability to create a tumour in your body. What do you mean by that?
What made you look at both western and alternative medicine for your treatment and are you recommending it to everyone?
You’re the picture of health now, what is the secret to your recovery?
Karina Godwin was born intuitive, with a window into the world that most of us never get to see through. Her healing gifts developed early, culminating in the development of the Meliae Intuitive Healing modality. Dana Dinerman, a breast cancer thriver & Owner of Hulabelle, a brand which helps research products for women, in particular, breast cancer survivors, and also has in the recent past created swimwear and other types of clothing to help women who may seek more coverage after having surgery from a breast cancer diagnosis joins eHealth Radio and the Cancer Information and Health News Channels.
Listen to host Eric Dye & guest Dana Dinerman discuss the following:
After being diagnosed with breast cancer, did you 100% rely on your doctors?
When did you realize that you needed to be researching your own path?
Do you listen to the statistics from the doctors for your life expectancy?
What examples do you have that show your own decisions might have saved your own life?
Advice/Tip: Always be your own advocate, have faith put control in God's hands and be sure to listen to your doctors but also be sure to do your homework. The doctors want to help but they are not living in your body or walking out the door in your life.
In 2011, I was 34, with a one-year-old son, when I was diagnosed with stage III intraductal carcinoma. The original tumor was only 2cm long, and had reached the majority of my lymph nodes under my right arm. It was a shock, because I have no family history except for a great-aunt on my mother’s side of the family. I was told her story does not count toward my diagnosis, but I feel in some ways it does.
I was a stay-at-home mom, having given up a teaching position at a local high school. While my son was napping, I was trying to wrap my head around the fact that I had cancer. I had this urge to run away, not wanting to look my son in the eyes and say his mommy had cancer.
The day I spoke with doctors about my mastectomy, we drove home feeling drained. I looked out my window and saw a parade of pink as we were driving up our street. I remembered instantly that was the day Susan G. Komen 3-Day walkers made their trek by our house. I got out of the car and ran out into the street flagging down some of the walkers. I remember breathlessly telling them that I was just diagnosed with breast cancer. The moment the words came out of my mouth a group of them wrapped me up into a large hug. They held onto me and allowed me to cry. A couple of them shared their stories with me. Hearing the stories from these ladies gave me some hope.
Needless to say the journey after that was tough. I had to endure six months of the toughest chemo regime that could be given. I remember lying down next to my son’s crib each night asking God to give me five more years so I can see my son go to kindergarten. I did not want to leave my child without a mother.
I was able to take a break before my radiation therapy, and my husband decided to plan a tropical vacation to Hawaii. While shopping for swimsuits, I remember walking into a local boutique and realizing that I could not fit into any of the swimsuits that were available. Before my mastectomy I was able to shop and find something fairly easily. I searched online for swimsuits for women who have had mastectomies. Unfortunately, they were not well designed and were made with poor-quality fabrics. I knew something needed to be done.
I continued to feel uncertain about my cancer diagnosis, constantly worried about it returning. That fall, I faced my first recurrence. My son was two years old at the time, and I knew I needed to be aggressive with my treatment. After many rounds of radiation therapy, I was able to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel and walked out the doctor’s office feeling as though a new chapter had begun.
The next three years would be centered on building my swimwear brand, Hulabelle Swimwear. The idea is to give women – like myself – more quality choices when it comes to swimwear.
I would learn how to source material, talk with vendors and crunch numbers. It would take up time that I would normally use to worry about another recurrence. I had the opportunity to meet amazing people while showing the line, and participated in various charities and fundraisers. It was truly a year of growth, until the end of summer when I faced another recurrence.

Dr. Mylaine Riobe, a Board-Certified Medical Doctor and specialist in traditional Chinese medicine and Integrative medicine of the Riobe Institute of Integrative Medicine in Stuart, Florida joins eHealth Radio and the Cancer Prevention & Health News Channel.
Dr. Riobe will be discussing why our current cancer treatments are not successful, and how we can use more successful therapies now.
Listen to interview with host Eric Michaels and guest Dr. Mylaine Riobe discuss the following:
Does chemotherapy effectively treat cancer?
Why do we still use chemotherapy despite these dismal statistics?
Why is there so much conversation about immunotherapy if it’s not going to solve the cancer epidemic?
What other strategies would be more effective to treat cancer?
Why is TCM and Integrative medicine so well equipped to be the answer to cancer?

Did you know that for the first time in 200 years, our children are not expected to live as long as we do?
The reason for this is that our American medical system is based on the prevention of death rather than prevention of disease. 50% of Americans have life- shortening diseases by age 18.
Did you know that rates of cancer are expected to rise 42% by 2025? We spend more than the entire continent of Europe on cancer care and have over 700,000 more deaths per year than they do! Almost every American is touched by the epidemic of cancer.
The reason for this is that our American medical system is based on the prevention of death from cancer rather than prevention of cancer.
Dr. Riobe proves why early diagnosis of diseases such as cancer to prevent death is no longer acceptable. With over 15 years of experience, Dr. Riobe has developed a ground-breaking integrative fusion technique that provides a dynamic approach that is effective, safe and prevents and treats diseases including cancer, by addressing their root causes.
Dr. Riobe's undergraduate studies were completed at Columbia University/Columbia College in NYC where she grew up. She obtained her medical degree at NY Medical College and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Medical College of Pennsylvania and the University of South Carolina. There she learned conventional medical practices that she used for four years following her graduation and board certification in OB/GYN. During this time, she grew frustrated with the cookie-cutter medicine that she learned. Although this form of medicine serves its purpose for acute, life-threatening conditions, she felt that her patients who suffered from chronic conditions such as fatigue, poor sleep, low sex drive, and overweight were often frustrated and incompletely treated.
Her close relationship with her grandmother, who introduced her to holistic healing methods as a child, planted her passion to treat her clients as a whole.
She set out to learn methods that evaluate and treat root causes rather than mask symptoms. This calling led her to study traditional Chinese medicine and integrative medicine over the following 8 years. She completed her studies at The Academy of Pain Research, a University of California, Irvine-affiliated institution; The University of Miami, and The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine.
She incorporates these disciplines into her practice to provide an integrative, customized approach combining leading-edge modern medical testing and technology with time-tested energy-based methods of traditional Chinese medicine.
In her upcoming books, The Tao of Integrative Medicine and The Answer to Cancer, she makes sense out to the chaos that is our current health crisis and sets a path to prevention of diseases such as cancer as practiced at The Riobe Institute. The Riobe Methods also provides effective treatment of chronic symptoms and conditions after they take hold.
She enjoys practicing what she preaches by living an active life of healthy eating, balanced lifestyle and exercise. As a woman and a mom, she knows first hand how we can all be consumed by a hectic lifestyle. That’s when it’s more important than ever to get on the path to prevention by obtaining your Annual Integrative Check-up.

Making Cancer Rare with Dr. Mylaine Riobe
Saturday Nov 12, 2016

Dr. Riobe will be discussing "making cancer rare".
Listen to interview with host Eric Michaels and guest Dr. Mylaine Riobe discuss the following:
You say that the answer to cancer is in its successful prevention. Isn’t this new ONCOblot testing just another “early diagnosis” tool?
What steps must we take to prevent cancer other than what we’ve already been told which is don’t smoke, eat right and exercise?
How do TCM and Integrative medicine prevent cancer?
So many Americans try to be proactive and take vitamins, do detoxes and take supplements but don’t seem to get any significant benefits. Aren’t these strategies considered integrative medicine?
Where can Americans get the guidance that they need to navigate the confusing landscape of preventive medicine?
