MedjetAssist provides peace of mind and benefits all types of travelers
Sunday Jan 27, 2013
Sunday Jan 27, 2013
John Gobbels, the Chief Operating Officer/Vice President and transport expert for MedjetAssist, the premier global air-medical transport membership program for travelers re-joins eHealth Radio and the Health Care Information Channel.
Listen to interview [audio player below] with host Eric Michaels & guest John Gobbels discuss the following:
Explain in layman’s terms what exactly MedjetAssist is and how it differs from basic travel insurance?
Without a membership program like MedjetAssist, on average, how much do travelers face in transfer costs to get from wherever they fall sick or injured to their home?
As 2013 kicks off and consumers start booking travel plans (whether a skiing in Aspen with friends, a Caribbean cruise with the family, or a business trip to Europe), how can MedjetAssist provide peace of mind and benefit all types of travelers?
What are some examples of compelling transport stories that MedjetAssist has successfully handled this past year? Just name some examples of injury or illness type (e.g., broken bones, cardiac problems, etc.)
Is there one region in particular where MedjetAssist finds the bulk of its transports concentrated, or is it really spread out all over the world?
Explain a little about the new MedjetAssist Ski Enthusiast Membership. What are the details and how can skiers benefit from this offer?
John Gobbels brings over 23 years of pre-hospital and hospital service and management experience to his role as vice president and COO of MedjetAssist. Since joining the premier medical evacuation membership program in 2006 as director of transport operations, Mr. Gobbels has been responsible for complete oversight of all transport and repatriation operations.
Before moving from his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Medjet’s headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama, Mr. Gobbels spent 13 years with STAT MedEvac, the air ambulance arm of the renowned University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). During his tenure, he played integral roles in almost all aspects of the program, from base operations to communications and clinical operations. For six years Mr. Gobbels served as clinical director of STAT MedEvac, overseeing compliance with the Commission on Air-Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS), as well as the continuing education requirements for all clinical staff. Previously, he was a flight nurse and paramedic. Mr. Gobbels began his career with UPMC in 1991 as a critical care nurse.
Mr. Gobbels holds a Masters degree in Management and Information Technology from Carlow University in Pittsburgh, PA., as well as multiple degrees in health care.

Sacred Housekeeping with Harriet Rossetto
Saturday Jan 26, 2013
Saturday Jan 26, 2013
Harriet Rossetto the CEO and Founder of Beit T' Shuvah, a renowned treatment center and author of "Sacred Housekeeping", a spiritual memoir joins eHealth Radio.
Listen to interview [audio player below] with host Eric Michaels & guest Harriet Rossetto discuss the following:
What is Sacred Housekeeping?
What inspired you to write your new memoir, Sacred Housekeeping?
How do you account for your attraction to outlaws?
Talk about the creation of Beit T'Shuvah
Tell us your thoughts about addiction
How do you relate to addicts even though you are not an addict?
How do you work with your husband and stay married?
Harriet Rossetto is a rebel spirit. She is a self-professed misfit who felt she was operating her life on the fringe. It is there that she found her fierce calling: helping broken souls and changing a broken system.
Harriet received her Masters in Social Work from the University of Minnesota in 1964. A social worker with a strong Jewish identity, Harriet answered what would be a life-altering classified ad in the Los Angeles Times looking for “a person of a Jewish background to help incarcerated Jewish offenders.” Harriet soon recognized that most of the Jews in jail committed crimes as a by-product of what she’s coined the “dis-ease” of addiction. Frustrated by the lack of resources, she embraced the unpopular cause, fighting the widespread denial that “nice Jewish men and women” could be addicts and criminals in need of rehabilitation. A woman of passion, vision, and action, this fight took on the form of Beit T’Shuvah: The House of Return.
With Harriet as its guiding spirit for over 25 years, she has sustained Beit T’Shuvah’s mission, and it in turn the mission has sustained her. She has become something of a “Relationship Guru”, nurturing budding and fragile sober relationships that have in many cases turned into marriages and full-blown families. For Harriet, the greatest reward is witnessing and participating in the miracle of transformation. A mission with a beating heart, her living message is that everyone is capable of redemption, which is why she empowers the residents of Beit T’Shuvah with employment, hiring 90% of her staff from within. Today they are the lifeblood of the organization.
Harriet is now a much sought-after speaker in synagogues and community groups as well as a trainer for the National Association of Social Workers, teaching classes about the treatment and philosophy of the “dis-ease” of addiction. Harriet’s latest noteworthy project is her new book Sacred Housekeeping, A Spiritual Memoir. A woman unafraid of risk and ridicule in her quest for doing ‘the next right thing,’ she has lived long enough to see the world just beginning to catch up with her.

Sleep Art Body Support Mattress with David Trachtman
Sunday Jan 06, 2013
Sunday Jan 06, 2013
David Trachtman, Founder and CEO of Sleep Art, the maker of the Sleep Art Body Support Mattress Topper joins eHealth Radio. Mr. Trachtman has over 44 years experience in the rehabilitation industry.
Listen to interview [audio player below] with host Eric Michaels & guest David Trachtman discuss the following:
Why do people think they need a new mattress to get better sleep?
What are some of the health benefits of a SleepArt mattress topper?
Which is a better mattress topper: gel, foam, or combination of both?
Has XcelGel been used in any other medical products?
What if I don’t like sleeping on the SleepArt Body Support Mattress Topper?
How long will the mattress topper last?
Dave Trachtman, Founder and CEO of SleepArt, was convinced there was a better alternative to orthopedic mattress construction than the popular visco foam technology that is now over 30 years old. With 44 years experience in the rehabilitation industry, including acquiring his own companies and serving as national sales and marketing director for Abbey Medical, Dave’s objective was to create an orthopedic support system for spinal alignment and the reduction of interface body pressure on the body, as well as achieving a greater sleep experience.
Recognizing the potential of visco memory gel as the key ingredient for a new generation of mattresses, Dave began experimenting with different gel formulas and combinations of mattress component materials. Two years and numerous refinements later, he has perfected the proprietary technology that is featured in every Sleep Art mattress today.
Accelerated testing by an independent lab and practical user trials confirmed that Sleep Art technology with XcelGel out-performed the old technologies of traditional mattresses. Dave has taken the next step in sleep comfort and support with the Sleep Art Body Support Mattress Topper.
