Dr. Laurel Mellin an associate clinical professor of family and community medicine and pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine & also the founder of EBTConnect.net joins eHealth Radio and the Health News and Mental Health Channels.

Dr. Mellin is the executive director of The Institute for Health Solutions, which promotes training, research and service in methods of rewiring the emotional brain. She is the founder of Emotional Brain Training (EBT). Dr. Mellin developed earlier iterations of the method, including the Solution Method and the Shapedown Program for pediatric obesity, which was adopted by the Canadian Health System, and is used extensively in the United States. Her undergraduate work was completed at the University of California, Berkeley, her Master’s degree in nutrition at San Francisco State University and her PhD was completed at Northcentral University.
Dr. Mellin wrote for President Clinton the national guidelines for the prevention and treatment of pediatric obesity, and is a leader in integrative health, as well as a New York Times bestselling author (The Pathway) with her most recent book on emotional brain training: Wired for Joy. She has conducted more than 100 courses nationally for health professionals on the neuroscience and practice of rewiring the emotional brain, and has extensive media experience, including representing UCSF in media events, and appearing on programs such as Today, Oprah, Public Radio and UCTV. She is the mother of three children and lives in Marin County, California.
