Dabney Day, a first-time feature filmmaker, writer, and producer who made their directorial debut with the independent drama The Gardener joins eHealth Radio and the Emotional Health & Health News Channels. Dabney developed the film as a deeply personal story about listening to one’s inner voice and finding light in life’s most difficult moments.
Listen to interview with host Eric Michaels & guest Dabney Day discuss the following:
Your film The Gardener touches on themes of personal growth and emotional renewal. As a first-time director, what inspired you to explore healing—both spiritual and emotional—through this story?
Gardening is often used as a metaphor for transformation and care. In the film, how does the act of tending to a garden reflect the process of tending to our inner lives and emotional well-being?
Many people today are searching for ways to reconnect with themselves. What do you hope audiences take away from The Gardener in terms of healing, forgiveness, or finding peace during difficult times?
The film deals with characters navigating loss, change, and self-discovery. From your perspective as a storyteller, how can film serve as a tool for emotional or even spiritual healing for viewers?
As the film prepares for its release, conversations around mindfulness and holistic health are more prevalent than ever. Do you see The Gardener as part of that broader cultural shift toward slowing down, reconnecting with nature, and nurturing the soul?
