Dr. Rubin is a board certified Neurologist who specializes in Neurorehabilitation and Spasticity management. He earned his B.S. degree from Hobart College in New York and received his MD from the State University of New York at Syracuse. He did his Medicine internship at Staten Island University Hospital in NY prior to completing his Neurology residency at the Neurological Institute, Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in NYC. He then did a Post-graduate fellowship with sub specialization in Neurorehabilitation at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital.
While practicing neurorehabilitation, Dr. Rubin started working with botulinum toxins mainly for the treatment of spasticity (increased muscle tone). Over the ensuing seventeen years, Dr. Rubin has injected thousands of patients with botulinum toxin for numerous therapeutic purposes. In addition he has participated in multinational studies of botulinum toxin and has investigated novel uses of the toxin. At Design Neuroscience Center, Dr. Rubin directs their clinical research program. He acts as the primary investigator on a number of studies evaluating novel neurologic therapies.
Due to his vast experience in the field of Neurorehabilitation and spasticity management, Dr. Rubin serves as a consultant for a number of pharmaceutical companies and he lectures nationwide. In addition, he routinely trains physicians about the uses of botulinum toxins as well as the art of injection. Lastly, he does research for and has served as a consultant for Medtronic and still trains physicians on the use of their intrathecal Baclofen pumps
Dr. Rubin is the Florida President of the Alliance for Patient Access and serves on their Board of Directors. He is the recipient of the 2008 Patient Access Advocacy Hero award from Medtronic.
