Dr. James R. Shire has combined a lifelong interest in the arts with a career in medicine in his practice of facial plastic surgery. Dr. Shire is Board Certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, The American Board of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgeons, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Shire was also the Director of Facial Plastic Surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine from 1995-1998.
After shifting to Chattanooga, TN, Dr. Shire quickly become the premier facial cosmetic surgeon in the area, and still holds a large following among out of state patients - seeking his unparalleled artistry, expertise and patient satisfaction. In addition to his thriving practice, Dr. Shire has dedicated his career to expanding the field of facial plastic surgery. He has contributed his expertise and excellence by co-authoring over 10 medical textbooks providing cutting edge techniques for various facial rejuvenation procedures. Some of these topics include, Facelifing Incisions, Rhinology, Prejowl Implants, Facial Implants and lastly Deep Chemical Peeling which is set to release in the fall of 2015.
Dr. Shire organized and co-directed the Faces of Jerusalem in 2010 and was invited to the International German Symposium for Plastic – Reconstructive Surgery in 2012. Later that year, Dr. Shire conducted an instructional course on ‘The Modified Phenol-Croton Oil Peel’ in Washington D.C. and again later conducted the same course in New Orleans the following year.
Dr. Shire has been voted the best Plastic Surgeon in the Chattanooga area for the last six years and is listed in ‘Best Doctors in America’. He has been known as Consumers’ Research Council of America’s Top Surgeons – voted in every year since 2005.
